Mariela played at Los Angeles Harbor College and then took her talents to Graceland University in Iowa. Still playing! She now pitches for an all-women’s U-trip team. Mariela has coached all ages and all levels of softball as a private pitching instructor and high school coach for over 8 years. She is the pitching coach for the SMSBA 10u and 12U Club teams!
SMSBA welcomes Coach Ilene to the team! A former varsity player, she started her collegiate softball career at Pasadena City College. She then received a Division 1 scholarship to play at Alcorn State University! After her playing career, she remained at Alcorn as the Graduate Assistant Coach for 3 years. During her time as a Graduate Assistant, Coach Ilene coached at clinics/camps and now brings her talent to SMSBA!
A standout varsity high school player, Coach Aileen is currently playing middle infield at Santa Monica College! She is one of the coaches for our SMSBA 10U and 12U teams. She loves coaching the younger players at our camps and clinics!
Professional softball player May 2005 to October 2019
After her division 1 all American college softball career, she went on to play the highest level professional softball in various countries and locations around the world. Including the US , the Netherlands. Italy, and Asia. She was a pitcher, hitter and first baseman, and accomplished in all positions at high statistical performance levels, and would start in every line up at either position and as a hitter.
She is currently the Marymount High School assistant varsity coach and pitching coach.
She was the starting center fielder on varsity all four years of High School and and played travel ball at an elite level! She now plays softball at Alderson Broaddus University, leads her team with a .348 batting average and the highest fielding percentage! She coached with us all summer and is a top coach with SMSBA!
School, Sorensen led West Ranch to three consecutive CIF-Southern Section playoff appearances including a runner-up finish during the 2014 season. West Ranch won a pair of Foothill League championships and was named second-team All-League and third-team All-Valley as a senior. She played in the Women's European Cup (XXVII) for Israel. A

At CSUN she started all 54 games, playing all but 26 innings of the season at catcher...led team and was 14th in the Big West in RBI with 28.
Carter was a shortstop for four years at Junipero Serra High School in Gardena, Calif.- a two-time Santa Fe League Most Valuable Player and three-time First Team All-League selection-was the District 7 Southern Section MVP in 2018 -two-time team and defensive MVP - hit .639 as a junior with eight home runs and 27 runs batted in -helped Serra to a league title and a CIF Championship in 2018
